The International Eye Foundation (IEF) is committed to protecting the privacy of our online donors, customers, or those visiting our website. When browsing the IEF website, we do not collect any personal information that would identify you. “Non-identifying” information, such as number of visitors and pages visited is collected, in order that we may make improvements to our site.
Personal data you have provided in making an online donation, requesting a quote, or subscribing to a mailing list will be used internally by IEF to provide you with information about IEF’s sight-saving work and ways you may further support our efforts. You may indicate your desire to not receive such updates when entering your information on the online Donation form.
We will not share your email address or telephone number with third parties, with the exception that your telephone number and other information is provided to the third party financial institution that processes our credit card transactions. They receive your name, address, telephone number, credit card number, and expiration date solely for the purpose of verifying the credit card number and processing the transaction in a secure environment. Their encryption technology is the industry standard security protocol. They have state-of-the-art firewalls and other security technology in place to insure the confidentiality of your transactions.
Security – IEF endeavors to ensure the security of personal information and to protect against any loss or misuse of any such information while in our care. All information provided when making an online donation is stored in a secure environment separate from the website itself. This information is only accessible by certain qualified employees of IEF. We request personal information for the purposes of writing to you following your gift and should any problems arise in respect of processing or acknowledging your gift. If contract service providers are used to complete the donation process, they are bound by our security policy and may not divulge your information to any other party.
Information provided to IEF through this website is transmitted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encryption. SSL is a proven coding system that lets your browser automatically encrypt, or scramble, data before you send it to us. In addition, IEF’s data security is routinely evaluated by Security Metrics for compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards and does meet those standards. However, no data transmission over the Internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of such information.
