IEF Programs: Trachoma

IEF Works to Curb Trachoma

The infectious disease trachoma causes blindness in 1.3 million people according World Health Organization data from 2004. Efforts to curb trachoma greatly reduce future outbreaks, especially among children who can be spared additional complications of the disease, such as scarred eyelids and cornea blindness.

Together with local communities, IEF is working to reduce trachoma infection and to improve access to water and better hygiene. [ IEF Programs ]
